Dating Lure

Updated: Jan 28

Location, Location, Location, I've yet to find a more impressive location than Lake Lure, North Carolina! I lived in this stunning mountain town for one year and when I did I thought I would reside here forever! Luckily, I love adventuring and am truly blessed to return as a traveling yogini!

I recommend visiting in the summer so you can fully enjoy the lake and/or in the fall as the autumn leaves are astonishing in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains! Personally, I've never desired to ride a motorcycle but Route 74 through Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and up into Asheville, North Carolina is said to be one of the most picturesque rides you can take via bike within the United States!

Of course, a day trip is better than nothing but if you have the pleasure to vacation for at least a couple of days, I would strongly encourage doing so! Evaluating all of Western North Carolina, there's no better place to stay than Lake Lure Inn & Spa! I'm in love with historic locations and this Inn first opened it's doors for business in 1927! Here they provide the best of both worlds, modern comfort and historic charm!

In addition to a swimming pool on site, they have a restaurant, THE VERANDA, which is open for business! The Inn also serves breakfast to their guests! In the COVID era this is truly exciting! Everywhere else I've stayed, unfortunately opted out of servicing their guests on such a elegant level.

For travelers who like to keep things simple and as affordable as possible, the Inn manages an attached motel! I love being able to park right outside my door, making unpacking and packing an easy breeze! If you choose to stay within their motel, as I did, you still get to enjoy all the amenities of their traditional Inn & Spa!

When you wake after receiving a nourishing nights rest, you simply walk out the door and you're in the mountains, at the beach, on the lake! There is no commute, you've already reached your destination! This reality is magic by my definition! This experience is what I love most about Lake Lure Inn & Spa!

I prefer to take a walk upon waking! Follow the dock, which will lead you to Morse Park Gardens! The beach and water park opens at 10am daily! On your first day at Lake Lure I recommend simply relaxing by the water!

When you get hungry I would strongly encourage you visiting one of my all-time favorite restaurants, LakeHouse Bar & Grill! Upon arrival, request outside seating as their patio view is out of this world!

I ordered their Grilled Fresh Catch Sandwich on a Gluten-Free Bun with a mouthwatering side of watermelon!

When your belly is satisfied and you're making your way back to the Inn & Spa consider stopping by Burgess Produce Stand to purchase snacks to enjoy poolside, lakeside, and within the comforts of your hotel room! When I lived in Western North Carolina, I loved challenging myself to do as much shopping as possible at roadside stands! Now presenting with roots in the north, I miss this option as roadside stands are unfortunately not common.

I purchased delicious mountain honey at 2047 Memorial Hwy, Lake Lure, NC 28746!

On your second day of adventuring in this area, I recommend taking a quick little drive to Chimney Rock; Lake Lure's next door neighbor! You can enjoy the downtown shops to satisfy you needs for coffee, food, and souvenirs.

Consider a RIVERWALK in downtown Chimney Rock! I enjoy yoga and meditation by the water!

If you love long hikes in the mountains, enter Chimney Rock State Park, and make your way to the top for a photo by our flag! I'm happy to report I've completed this hike and the view from above is breathtaking!

Sidebar: Interesting fact about this particular state park, the climax to the film The Last of the Mohicans was filmed here!

Once you've checked off Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, North Carolina from your to-do list you can continue on Route 74 through Bat Cave, Gerton, and Fairview to end up in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina! The commute should take no more than one hour unless you're uncomfortable driving on switchback mountain roads! There are plenty of opportunities to pull over on 74 to enjoy the river, scenery, and to allow more experienced drivers the option to pass you!

Don't wait too long to book your stay at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa! Life's too short to miss out on travel and adventure! I'm looking forward to my next visit as I've had the time of time life!
