Pizza Party!

My dad turned 60 this year in early November and I was in search of a birthday gift to show him I cared! I prefer to gift experiences and/or consumables rather than items that tend to collect and potentially go unused, more often than not.


This July, I was introduced to J Michael's Mushrooms at the Newark Farmers' Market! I follow J Michael closely on Facebook for updates on his inventory now that the market is closed for the season!

When I received notification of J Michael's stock of mushrooms, pickup times, and location, for my dad's birthday weekend I got super excited! I wanted to cook for my dad and thought the addition of J Michael's Mushrooms would be perfect!


I love to drive, so adventuring to Hebron, Ohio, for the very first time for a mushroom pickup was right up my alley! 32 miles from the heart of Columbus and 9 miles from the heart of Newark, Ohio, where I frequent, was really no big deal, by my standards!




For breakfast on the 3rd of November, my dad requested freshly made Arepas, with hot sauce, honey, and jalapeño jelly, sautéed mushrooms, and hard boiled eggs! Although, I did not take a picture, I remember breakfast to be tasty and I hope my dad would report the same!


On November 4th | sidebar: My Hot Hispanic's Birthday | my dad and I had leftover mushrooms and decided to have a pizza party!


I specialize in dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free pizza parties and my dad was kind enough to get excited about enjoying my way of eating, so that we could party together!


When in the mood for pizza, I prefer to make it at home! Everything made at home just simply tastes better to me than what can be purchased out in the community! I feel it's the extra love, attention to quality of ingredients, and attention to detail that is difficult for a community to provide.


Choosing to have a pizza party at home does not have to be difficult with the addition of quality convenience products available these days! Of course, making and baking from scratch would always be the healthiest way to go, but sometimes one just needs to take the easy way out!


Without further ado, I introduce to you my convenient pizza party...


Personal Chef turned Blogger! One of my favorite recipes is now yours!


(1) In the freezer section of your local grocery, select thick and/or thin pizza crust!


My favorite thick pizza crust | I typically purchase this product at Kroger!


My favorite thin pizza crust | I typically purchase this product at Raisin Rack!


(2) Sauté fresh mushrooms in a buttery spread! Consider J Michael's Mushrooms! We added sweet peppers too!



(3) If you selected my favorite thick crust pizza, I recommend baking the crust naked for 10 minutes prior to adding sauce and toppings! Follow oven temperature recommendations on packaging!


(4) Add sauce to thin crust or pre-cooked thick crust! I choose organic when possible!


(5) Add sautéed veggies and top with cheese | choose sliced cheese if you want to be super lazy or block cheese and shred if you have extra energy to spare | Follow Your Heart does make pre-shredded vegan cheese but these products are not readily available at the groceries I choose to frequent | bake thin crust for 10 minutes total and thick crust for an additional 10 minutes!
