Seasonal Shifts & Feng Shui

Updated: Jan 28, 2022

* SPOKEN WORD *

We're all very familiar with the notion of a good spring clean but what if we completed a deep cleanse seasonally to honor our sacred space and feng shui? As a formal and proper way to say farewell to the old and welcome the new season!

Before making this suggestion I decided to complete the task for reasonability! Now, I live in a 300 square foot cabin, setup like a studio, so this task might always be more reasonable for me than for you; but I've worked really hard over the past seven years to be more minimalistic in nature and maybe you're ready to start your journey too!

The last week of summer I gave the vast majority of my attention to my cabin. I dusted every square inch, from ceiling to floor. I rearranged furniture to improve the flow of my life and energy. I touched every possession; giving each item I depend on the love and respect deserved. I contemplated belongings for keep (with the notion that I would have to re-clean at the latest around the shift to winter), give-a-way (re-gift), donation, recycle, burnables (as I heat my cabin with a wood burning stove and unneeded papers always make great fire starter), and lastly trash. I was able to fill two brown paper grocery bags with donations and collected a considerable amount of burnables! I consider the project to be a huge success.

What surprised me most...

(1) I removed my mattresses from my bed frame so I could have complete access for dusting. I was shocked about the accumulation of dust between my mattress and bed frame. I would have assumed no dust could even get between the two. I found and cleaned up two spider nests attached to the underneath portion of my frame. Now concrete and spiders are my personal kryptonite so I was shocked and extremely happy to remove the eggs prior to hatching!

* Funny gift from social media, which made me laugh hysterically *

(2) I untangled and dusted every electrical cord!

(3) I've never cleaned better in my entire life and energetically I can feel a cosmic difference within my space.

*Is it reasonable for you to deep clean with each shift in season as it is for me?

*Would one season per year be plenty to tackle as you get started? If so, is spring really the best time to complete your deep cleanse? If I had to choose one season I think winter would be best! We're inside a lot more, with less to do. Deep cleaning would give us direction and exercise when we often need it most! What could you do this fall in preparation for your winter cleanse?

*Maybe your space is so large and your possessions so vast that even the season of winter might not provide enough time? If this is truly your reality could you dedicate time daily to deep cleaning? Not surface cleaning but real deep cleaning! Could you allocate 30 minutes daily to the art of feng shui to improve the energy within your home and within your life? Sustainability is key; we can do most things for 30 minutes but not much longer.

*Did this expression add value to your life? Please consider donating to support in buying a symbolic cup of coffee! Thank you in advance for your contribution & generosity!

I promise the organization and cleanliness of your residence will make a profound impact on your ability to find and feel your center in addition to the level of grace you experience regularly.

Happy Fall & Happy Deep Cleaning!
