Tea for Two | Kicking Coffee

Updated: Jan 28

I set a goal this year to kick coffee! Are you joining me on this adventure?

I love the taste, which makes this task more on the difficult side. Honestly, the caffeine content presents a big problem for me. Post intake, I feel an intense energy settling into my jaw that leads to a powerful clenching sensation, which remains all day. If I choose to start each morning with coffee, the tightness in my jaw becomes intolerable. Thankfully, I’ve found face yoga and a daily evening practice has changed my life in more ways than one. It’s simply time I do something about the problem rather than applying a Band-Aid like fix each evening with face yoga.

You might find the following to be terrible advice but it works very well for me and I do recommend my process, within reason. When it comes to “addictions” one often and naturally replaces one addictive substance with another as a coping mechanism. Some professionals might strongly discourage the “replacement game” but as long as you choose a less harmful substance, I feel we’re headed in the correct direction, and that’s a very positive reality. It’s like taking steps down a ladder, rather than attempting to jump to the ground level. I find ones’ chances of success in eliminating addictive substances altogether dramatically improve with my step ladder approach.

Let’s evaluate my starting point! I was consuming caffeinated Instant Mexican Coffee by Cafe Bustelo each morning mixed into a warm cup of unsweetened nut milk with added honey and cinnamon. It's advertised to provide high caffeine content per serving. I decided to step down permanently to my favorite Organic White Peach Tea, Peach Blossom by Rishi! Advertised to provide low caffeine content per serving. I’m not off the ladder but I'm making great strides in the right direction!

In the past, more often than not, I’ve chosen my instant latte over my tea because I’ve enjoyed the brewing process tremendously more. First step in making this change, I needed to secure a tea setup that's portable, for a traveling yogini, and considerably more attractive than my coffee setup!

In evaluating my tea experience, I disliked my tea balls. I found them difficult to stuff and as a result my coffee days were exceeding my tea days! I also disliked my loose-leaf tea bags as they made a watery mess at every brew. The water would really climb up the bag and out of my mug! Yet again, my coffee was winning this figurative battle!

I really hate shopping but I love the Amazon experience! I sat down with my computer, and Amazon and searched until my problems were solved! I’m very proud to introduce my beautiful new tea setup that has successfully defeated my coffee dependence! Skvely, luxury tea infuser set, made of food grade glass and stainless steel, has forever changed my daily caffeine intake. Thank you and Namaste! Its elegant design is very appealing and visually exciting. Fun and super easy to fill, never creating a mess as my former loose-leaf tea balls and bags did. All of my tea problems were solved with this purchase as I suspected. Skvely provides an experience that far surpasses the creation of an instant latte, making the switch practically permanent!

I do on occasion enjoy high-end decaffeinated vegan lattes at my brother’s restaurant on Hilton Head Island, Java Burrito Company! His beans undergo a water bath caffeine extraction process, rather than the alternative chemical extraction process that I want no part in! When I’m on the island, I enjoy decaffeinated vegan lattes with zero guilt and no unfortunate side effects!

Now I continue to enjoy my face yoga sequence nightly and instead of taking one-step forward and one-step back daily, I’m always progressing in the right direction! If you too need face yoga, it’s on-demand always at The Guest Bungalow and I welcome special requests for our LIVE STREAM community classes and privately scheduled appointments!
