Sustainable Fasting

As a nutritionist, I understand why we should be eating daily. As a yogi, I understand the advantages to fasting for spiritual cleansing and enlightenment. Here my intention is to provide a solution for a perfect blend of benefits for the yogis who care deeply about their sustenance!

Nutritionally, our body needs energy daily to support essential functions but we don't require three meals and three snacks. If regular cleansing and enlightenment is of the highest priority consider consuming only breakfast and lunch daily. I would recommend a balanced breakfast within one or two hours of waking. This energy will support your being to perform its best during the beginning parts of your day. Consider having lunch five hours after breakfast. Your lunch will support your being for the latter parts of your day. 65 grams of carbohydrates will be needed at both meals with the addition of healthy fats and proteins. Vegan protein options are perfectly fine if this vibes best with your being. After your lunch, no more meals and no snacks are needed. Your being gets to enjoy the benefits of adequate nourishment and sustainable fasting!

If I desire to implement this sustainable fasting approach my day would look as follows. Due to COVID-19 putting my private practice 100% online, I wake most days around 10am. Breakfast is consumed around 12pm at the latest and dinner would be around 5:30pm. Mindful eating is so very important to me so lets consider I'm finished with breakfast around 12:30pm and dinner around 6pm at the earliest. From 12pm to 6pm my being gets to experience being adequately nourished and from 6pm to 12pm my being gets to experience 18 hours of benefits associated with fasting.

Should you need larger gaps in mealtimes than my being consider 8 hours max. This would provide 15.5 hours of benefits associated with fasting if you too practice mindful eating. If you enjoy napping and sleeping as I do be sure to consume nothing within three hours of your rest.
